Dr. Mahadevi Ghugare/Chabukswar, originally from Hasurchampu, Kolhapur, has dedicated her whole life to transforming communities in Kutch, Gujarat. A graduate of Dr. Ghali College and Shahaji Law College, she further pursued an MSW from Sant Tukdoji Maharaj University and an MBA in Nagpur. Honored with a doctorate in entrepreneurship, she has worked tirelessly for child welfare, women’s empowerment, and artisan entrepreneurship.
Her journey began with educating hundreds of tribal children in Kashele near Bhimashankar, embodying her belief that “service to man is service to God.” Following the 2001 Kutch devastating earthquake, she aided over 1,200 earthquake victimised,orphaned ,needy and vulnerable children, providing education and skill development programs.
A staunch advocate for women’s rights, she has led initiatives against domestic violence while empowering rural women through skill-building and entrepreneurship. Her work in reviving traditional Kutch crafts has connected artisans to national and international markets, fostering self-reliance under the Atmanirbhar Bharat mission.
Through compassion and determination, Dr. Mahadevi Ghugare/Chabukswar has uplifted thousands, turning adversity into opportunity. Her legacy continues to inspire, proving that grassroots activism can drive meaningful change for a more inclusive and prosperous India.
